Talk about preconceived ideas and mindless routines. Do we do the
things we do because it's the best use of our time, or because we
enjoy it? Or... because it's expected?
Take a good look at your household tasks. Do you really have to
fold the washcloths? What about underwear? What if you just tossed
them in a small drawer, or in a box in a big drawer? Would anyone
die? Start thinking about time-savers. What else has become a habit
that we could eliminate?
And where do you draw the line? :)
I have heard these ideas before.... from my dad. :) He thought folding laundry a waste of Mom's time (she still folded). I take a certain 'pride' in folding laundry and all the washcloths are color coded and stacked the same way, etc. Probably a small waste of time but it's my 'reward' for the drudgery of laundry. My time saver dream (which is very wasteful so will NEVER happen) is to use all disposable plates and dishes. I detest doing dishes. There. Did I shock you? :)
ReplyDeleteNo, not at all, because I share your hatred of dishes. That is a lovely idea! :) :) If only.
ReplyDeleteI fold all my washcloths and stack them the same way, too, though they are not color-coded. Partly because it takes less space that way... most laundry has to be folded or it takes up too much room in my drawers. (Psst... I don't fold underwear though. They go in a little box in my drawer.)
The other reason I fold washcloths is because I am afraid guests will be traumatized if I don't. :)
Thanks for leaving my very first comment. It makes me positively giddy!
